Meet Charlotte

4-year-old Charlotte is bravely fighting B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She faces each challenge with a smile that inspires everyone around her.

Charlotte’s cancer diagnosis turned her family’s world upside down.

On the 3rd of September 2024, her parents received the news that no parent wants to hear… their precious Charlotte had leukemia.

In a flash they went from normal daily life to hospital stays, tests, infections, and medical terminology that felt like a whole new language.

She began treatment immediately and those early days were full of fear and uncertainty. Her parents could never have been prepared for the pain of watching their child go through intensive treatments and deal with all the side effects that come with them. Through it all, Charlotte’s incredible strength was a guiding light.

Her mom, Emily, told us, “Charlotte has shown more courage and resilience than we could have ever imagined.”

This brave little girl has endured 8 months of intensive front-line chemotherapy, which was delivered via her port each week and via lumbar puncture to her spine once a month.

She is currently in maintenance treatment which includes a weekly oral chemo, a daily oral chemo, and a lumbar puncture and port chemo every 3 months.

On this rollercoaster of a journey, Charlotte’s family have learned to celebrate the moments of hope and the small victories. The groundswell of support from extended family and friends has also given them so much strength in the most difficult moments of their lives.

Charlotte finds joy in playing with her sisters Lainey and Adeline, riding her pony Neelow, painting, crafting, and dreaming of princess tea parties. She also loves spending time outdoors, riding her bike, and playing on the swings at the playground.

Her parents been connected to GCC through Charlotte’s grandfather, a long-time rider, but their daughter’s diagnosis has given them an even greater appreciation for all our riders who are working so hard to make a difference and save little lives.

They’re sharing Charlotte’s story to bring hope and awareness, telling us, “If even one person is inspired to support childhood cancer research, a single dollar donated in her honor is worth tenfold as it is investing not only in Charlotte’s life, but in every child who will face this fight in the future.”

Charlotte, you’re a cancer-fighting superstar… we’re riding for YOU this September!
