My Story
When my sister was four years old, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Wilms tumor. The cancer started in her kidneys and spread to her lungs. Our family was suddenly thrown into a battle that no child should ever have to fight. While my sister was the one undergoing treatment, cancer affected every one of us.
Today, she is a research scientist - a living example of what hope, determination, medical advancements, and the support of an incredible community can make possible.
Ever since we were kids, our family has looked for ways to give back to the childhood cancer community that gave us so much during the hardest time of our lives. This September marks my sixth year participating in the Great Cycle Challenge to raise money for childhood cancer research.
I ride for my sister and the future she was fortunate enough to have. But I also ride for the children who never got that chance. I ride in memory of Ellen, Dolly, Chris, Tate, and so many others whose lives were cut far too short by this disease.
The reality is that cancer remains the leading cause of disease-related death among children. Every year, thousands of families receive the devastating news that their child has cancer. No parent should have to hear those words, and no child should spend their childhood fighting for their life.
Every mile I ride and every dollar raised helps fund critical research, better treatments, and hope for families currently facing this battle.
If you're able, please consider making a donation. Whether it's $5, $50, or simply sharing this fundraiser, your support truly makes a difference.
Thank you for helping me honor those we've lost, celebrate those who survived, and work toward a future where no child has to fight cancer.
